FaxPress 9.1 Release Notes
The FaxPress client and server software have been enhanced for greater network fax server reliability and performance. The powerful new features and enhancements available in FaxPress 9.1 are described below.
After the update, the FaxPress server will be updated to version 9.1 for PCL-based cover page use or 9.1.5 for Word-based cover page use, and the FaxPress client will be updated to version 9.1.
Features
- Exchange Server 2007 compatibility – FaxPress 9.1 is fully compatible with Exchanger Server 2007, providing full fax and e-mail functionality from the desktop.
- Updated printer drivers – FaxPress 9.1 includes enhanced printer driver functionality.
- Updated templates – Lotus Notes users now have new templates to select from.
- Office 2007 compatibility – FaxPress 9.1 is fully compatible with Microsoft Office 2007.
- New Interface – The FaxPress 9.1 client uses the same easy-to-use, intuitive interface used by FaxPress Plus 5.0.
- MSI Installer – Network administrators can automatically install and remove the FaxPress client on networked workstations using the built-in Group Policy features of Windows Server or by custom login scripting. The MSI installer is located on the install CD in the ~/Support/MSI directory.
- Windows Vista compatibility – The FaxPress 9.1 client is compatible with all editions of Windows Vista.
- New MFP add-ons – Functionality is provided for Ricoh, eCopy, EFI, HP and Sharp MFP (Multi-Function Printers) devices.
Enhancements & Fixes
- Two new directories have been added:
\Rev91\Add On Products\Domino, and
\Rev915\Add On Products\Domino to the FaxPres 9.1 CD, along with two subdirectories, 6.5 and 7.0, each containing a template file FaxPress.nsf (for Lotus Notes 6.5 and 7.0). - Open Text FaxPress Exchange Server 2007 connector.msi, located in the \Support\MSI directory of the FaxPress 9.1 CD.
- The FaxPress 9.1 Install CD contains all private builds of FaxPress prior to the 9.1 release. The ~/Support/PBX/ directory on the install CD contains all the necessary files and information required to rollout a private build.
- Gateways, E-mail Connectors and other Add-ons are fully compatible with FaxPress 9.1/9.1.5, and will work in the same manner as in FaxPress 9.0/9.0.5 and FaxPress 8.2/8.2.5.
- Various changes and fixes to the FaxPress client and server that enhance usability and increase stability.

FaxPress 9.0 Release Notes
These release notes describe new features, enhancements and improvements implemented in Opent Text FaxPress 9.0 client and server software.
The FaxPress client and server software have been enhanced for greater network fax server reliability and performance. The powerful new features and enhancements available in FaxPress 9.0 are described below.
Features
- New Interface – The FaxPress 9.0 client now uses the same easy-to-use, intuitive interface used by FaxPress Plus 4.1.
- MSI Installer – Network administrators can now automatically install and remove the FaxPress client on networked workstations using the built-in Group Policy features of Windows Server or by custom login scripting. The MSI installer is located on the install CD in the ~/Support/MSI directory.
- Windows Vista compatibility – The FaxPress 9.0 client is compatible with all editions of Windows Vista.
- New MFP add-ons – Functionality is now provided for Ricoh GlobalScan, EFI and Sharp OSA MFP (Multi-Function Printers) devices.
- Office 2007 compatibility – FaxPress 9.0 is fully compatible with Microsoft Office 2007.

FaxPress 8.2/8.25 Release Notes
These release notes describe the client/server architecture, major enhancements and bug fixes implemented in FaxPress version 8.2 and the optional FaxPress 8.2.5.
FaxPress 8.2 and the Optional FaxPress 8.25
In addition to including the FaxPress 8.2 server and client software, the FaxPress 8.2 Setup CD-ROM also includes the FaxPress 8.2.5 server and client software as an additional option. The FaxPress 8.2 and the optional 8.2.5 software have both been significantly enhanced to improve the reliability, stability and performance of the FaxPress server and Email Gateway.
FaxPress 8.2 server/client architecture is optimized specifically for PCL cover pages. FaxPress 8.2 uses PCL as the default cover page format, although Word is also an option. Cover pages are rendered on the server side. Note: The FaxPress 8.2 server software supports all versions of FaxPress client software, except for FaxPress 8.2.5, FaxPress 8.1.5 and FaxPress 8.0 Rev C. FaxPress 8.2 server software will NOT support FaxPress 8.2.5, FaxPress 8.1.5 and FaxPress 8.0 Rev C client software.
FaxPress 8.2.5 is an additional server and client software option offered with the FaxPress 8.2 software release. The FaxPress 8.2.5 server/client architecture is optimized specifically for Word cover pages. FaxPress 8.2.5 uses Word as the default cover page format, although PCL is also an option. If you intend to use Word for fax broadcasting, install the 8.2.5 server and client software. Unlike FaxPress 8.2, cover pages are rendered on the client side rather than the server side. Note: The FaxPress 8.2.5 server software ONLY supports FaxPress 8.2.5, FaxPress 8.1.5 or FaxPress 8.0 Rev C client software. If FaxPress 8.2.5 server software is implemented, all clients must also be running FaxPress 8.2.5, FaxPress 8.1.5 or FaxPress 8.0 Rev C client software.
FaxPress 8.2/8.25
New Features and Additions
FaxPress 8.2 and the optional FaxPress 8.25 software both include the following new features and additions:
- New Scanner, Copier and MFP Integration. Open Text’s FaxPress 8.2/8.2.5 release provides two new scan-to-fax solutions:
The FaxPress eCopy Connector provides FaxPress and eCopy ShareScan OP v2.0 and v3.0 integration, allowing users to scan and fax documents directly from a range of copiers, scanners and MFP devices, including Canon, HP, Océ, Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba products.
The FaxPress Xerox Interface provides a reliable scan in, fax out solution for Xerox DocumentCentre and WorkCentre systems.
- Support for New 25001L FaxPress Server. The FaxPress 8.2 and 8.25 software provides support for the FaxPress 2500 1L, Open Text’s new one-line fax server for small businesses. The FaxPress 2500 1L offers the same email integration features as the FaxPress 2500 and FaxPress 5000.
- Expanded Support Folder. The FaxPress 8.2/8.25 CD’s expanded Support folder contains five new administrative support utilities that can be implemented to address system and network environment-specific issues:
Two new Archive import utilities: one for SQL databases and one for FaxPress to FaxPress Archive migration.
A new user-mode printer driver install script, PrinterPatch.exe, is provided for Windows XP users with “blocking kernel-mode driver policy enabled.” The PrinterPatch.exe must be installed on XP machines with “blocking kernel-mode driver policy enabled.”
New Linux script resolves Linux installation issues.
New utility to convert FaxPress 7.x Archived PDF files to FaxPress 8.x PDF file format to be readable with Acrobat 7.x Free Viewer. The original files are automatically renamed with a Pdf.bak extension
Enhancements and Fixes
In 8.2, the FaxPress software has been enhanced to significantly improve the reliability, stability and performance of Open Text's Fax Appliance network fax server and Email Gateways.
Enhancements and fixes include:
- New DropFax Drop and Delete option allows fax jobs to be automatically deleted after processing.
- New Email Gateway embedded image/HTML support.
- New Noticegate.exe resolves notice without attachment issue.
- New ImageMaker DLLs resolve potential memory leak issue.
- New ImageMaker’s DLLs and cpi32.dll resolve broadcast faxes over 960 issue.
- New cpi32.dll (for 8.2 only) automatically removes dcx and tmp files from user temp folders.
- New fxf036.mxe file for FaxPress 5000 resolves multiple (over 50) pages receiving issue.
- Print Driver issue with Terminal Server Client Installation resolved.
- Port name issue with M/S Navision Accounting Package resolved.
- New faxmain.exe resolves Crystal Report issue, Outlook 2003 contact list access issue.
- PDF issue with Canon printer resolved.
- New noticegate.exe resolves successful notice not containing the subject information” issue.
- New FPCon.exe removes fax jobs from FaxPress Exchange Connector directory after forwarding jobs to Email Gateway.
- New FaxPress.out file resolves missing pages/compatibility issues between FP2500/SBE and Canon CFX-B380IF, Konica 9635, Xerox Document Center-340ST Fax machine, DELL 1600N MFF and HP1240 MFF.
- New faxmain.exe for v8.2.5 resolves the “Invalid document data” error when resend fax from outgoing queue using word cover page.
- New faxmain.exe resolves personal phonebooks’ missing contacts issue.
- New faxmain.exe forces a refresh after faxes have been read.
- New faxpress.sys reintroduced to resolve Novell broadcast issue.
- New cpicnv32.dll and img32vi.dll from ImageMaker allow sending fax with standard resolution.
- New faxmain.exe resolves dialing rule display issue.
- New option not to install FaxPress Fax Report feature when the user workstation is running a Crystal Report software version other than 9.2.0.448.
- A new setup.ini (under c:\program files\Castelle\faxpress\printdriver) with new resolution values resolves image shrinking issue.
- New NoticeGate.exe resolves email header issue with SMTP message.

FaxPress 8.1 & 8.15 Release Notes
These release notes describe the major enhancements and bug fixes implemented in FaxPress version 8.1.
Note: If you have a FaxPress 1500N, 3500 or Office Connect, you will not be able to run FaxPress 8.0 software.
FaxPress SBE does not support Email Gateways. If you are integrating with your email system, you will need a FaxPress 2500, 5000, 7500 or FaxPress Premier.
FaxPress 8.1 and the Optional FaxPress 8.1.5
In addition to including the FaxPress 8.1 server and client software, the FaxPress 8.1 Setup CD also includes the FaxPress 8.1.5 server and client software as an additional option. Additions/New Features/New OS and Application Support
1) Fax Report Function
This function allows the FaxPress administrator to monitor system-wide or personal data such as Outgoing and Incoming Fax volume, Billback Codes, User reports, Time reports, and Success/Failure rates. The function includes a configuration dialog box and a new report template in Faxmain.
2) Single Sign On for Windows Domain Users
This function allows FaxPress users in a Windows domain to login once to the Windows network, and then start using the FaxPress 8.0 application without having to re-enter their user name and password.
3) Microsoft Word Cover Page Support
FaxPress 8.0 supports the use of fax Cover Pages created in Microsoft Word. Users can use the Word cover page templates provided by Open Text, or edit one of these templates to create a custom Cover Page for either personal or company use.
4) Context Sensitive Help Files
Users can see help for all windows and dialog boxes in the Faxmain program, as well as for objects in the FaxPress Neighborhood Tree.
5) Integration With Microsoft Office and Windows Explorer ‘Send To’ Option
This function allows FaxPress users to choose a Fax Recipient option from the File>Send To menu in all Microsoft Office applications, and when using the Microsoft Windows Explorer.
6) Improved DropFax Utility
The DropFax Add On Utility now supports both channel and user-based inbound fax drop directories. The inbound fax drop directories can accept fax files in TIF, PDF, or DCX format for third party applications and document management systems.
7) All Outbound Fax Notification by Email
In FaxPress 8.0, all notices concerning Outbound faxes, both email-generated and Faxmain-generated, will be sent to the users by email.
Enhancements/Fixes

2) New Fax Preview button in FaxMain’s Send Fax allows users to view faxes before sending to confirm all cover page, content and transmission information is correct.

4) New individual user outgoing queue feature lets the FaxMain user configure the Outgoing Fax Queue so only the individual user’s outbound faxes are displayed. The queue can also be configured to display all outgoing faxes.
5) New client-side international character support feature allows both FaxMain and the FaxPress Email Gateways to support international characters in both fax cover page templates and fax message content.
6) GoldMine 6.0 link support
7) New Email Gateways mapping feature now allows per user default cover page selection and incoming file format selection. Incoming file format selection now also offers PDF as an option in addition to TIF and DCX.
8) New Duplicate Users utility enhancement now allows administrators to replicate individual user accounts and their personal cover pages from one server to another. The duplication utility can also overwrite or not overwrite existing user settings in the target FaxPress server.

Additions/New Features
- New Exchange Forms support provides seamless Microsoft Exchange/FaxPress client-side integration. For inbound faxes, users will be able to do “one-click” view of inbound fax messages. For outbound faxes, users can configure fax jobs with a variety of new, easily accessible delivery options.
- New 7.0 Exchange Connector can now be installed and working in the Cluster Server environment.
- New Email Gateway for FaxPress/IBM Lotus Notes email system integration. The New FaxPress Lotus Notes Gateway allows Lotus Notes users a seamless fax/email integration interface as part of their Notes inbox.
- New FaxPress support for Citrix Metaframe XP.
- New FaxPress Drop Directory provides convenient inbound fax storage and retrieval by third party applications.
- New priority user feature allows one specified FaxPress user to always have outgoing fax job priority.
- New Cover Page publishing feature allows the FaxPress administrator to distribute a customized personal cover page to all FaxPress users.
- New Line Scheduler utility helps the FaxPress administrator to automatically change the phone line configuration during a specified time period. For example, FaxPress phone lines can be configured to be “bi-directional” for both sending and receiving from 9am to 5pm. After 5pm to 9am the next day, FaxPress lines can be automatically set to “receive only,” effectively allowing faxes to be sent only during business hours.
- New, additional FaxPress server multiple pre-dial digits for different types of calls. For example, pre-dial digit “8” for international calls, “0” for long distance calls, and “9” for local calls.
- New 7.0 Product Activation Key
- New IPX/SPX protocol support for the Novell IPX Clients running on Windows 2000/XP
- Novell NetWare IP users can print faxes through Windows Sharable Printer using IP protocol
- New FaxPress Exchange Direct name: Open Text’s FaxPress Exchange Direct, based on Exchange Client technology, is now named Outlook Direct.
